Conner’s vision isn’t to make piles of cash or become some type of social media influencer: he’s already an economics professor. “We can all use more money,” he confesses, “but my pastor once told me he was as mortal as I am: He just believed he saw the trough and could point the other ‘horses’ to water to quench their thirst. It was an odd analogy for a holy man, but it made me see music in a different light: Especially, when I went home, put my Living Colour disk on, and heard the line ‘in Africa, music is not an art form, as much as it is a means of communication.’ Amen, I thought. Excuse the religious imagery, but let the conversation begin.”
